Mission
Many readers want to read more and leave their books unfinished. Sports tracking showed that an activity becomes regular once it becomes visible: you see what you have done and you want to come back the next day.
Vread applies that idea to books, with one more requirement. Most reading trackers record what readers say they have read. Vread validates progress with checkpoints tied to the passage that was actually read.
How Vread works
- The reader picks a book among more than 8,500 titles, in French or in English.
- They read on their own medium: print, e-reader or audio. The app supports the reading; it does not replace the book.
- Every 30 to 40 pages, a checkpoint asks a question about the passage just read. The answer is a single word.
- A correct answer validates the segment: the pages count toward progress, the reading streak and the stats.
- A limited number of jokers per book lets the reader skip a checkpoint. A segment passed with a joker does not count in the weekly ranking.
Why “the Strava of reading”
Strava tracks kilometres actually covered; Vread tracks pages actually validated. The book plays the part of the route, checkpoints the part of segments, the reading streak the part of training consistency. The analogy describes how the app works, not a link between the two companies.

What a proof of reading is worth
A validated checkpoint shows that a passage was read. It is neither an exam nor a school certificate, and it does not measure a personal interpretation of a work. It is a verified marker, where most tracking tools rely on a statement.
