To be fair
What The StoryGraph does better than Vread
If one of these matters a lot to you, The StoryGraph is still the better choice.
Stats and charts
The StoryGraph is built around charts and graphs of your reading, with custom charts in Plus. Vread’s stats are simpler.[1][3]
Recommendations
Recommendations by mood and pace, powered by machine learning. Vread does not recommend books.[1]
Content warnings
Author-approved and user-submitted content warnings help you avoid what you do not want to read. Vread has none.[1]
Flexible goals and group reading
Book, page and listening goals, your own challenges, buddy reads, readalongs and book clubs. Vread has Duo for two readers, but no yearly goal and no clubs.[1][4]
What Vread does differently
In Vread, a book read is a book validated
Most reading trackers record the progress you log. Vread validates it with a question about the passage you just read.
Read your book
On any medium: print, e-reader or audio. Vread does not show the text, it tracks your progress.
Answer one question
Every 30 to 40 pages, a question about the passage you read. Open answer, unlimited tries.
Your reading is validated
The segment counts toward your streak, XP and badges. A finished book is really finished.
Use both, or switch
The two apps do different jobs. You can keep The StoryGraph for stats, recommendations and content warnings, and read with Vread to move through each book segment by segment and keep your streak.
Vread imports Goodreads exports, not StoryGraph exports. If you still have a Goodreads account, you can import that library; otherwise just add the book you are reading now.
