How it works

  2. Read and validate

    In Vread, one question every 30 to 40 pages about the passage you read. A book is finished when all its checkpoints are validated.

  3. Tick your list

    Each finished book is added to your Vread stats. Tick it on your list, and your weekly streak goes on.

A challenge with proof

A challenge you can’t tick off in one tap

In most reading challenges, a book counts as soon as you mark it as read. With Vread, it counts once you have answered the questions for each of its parts. Your end-of-year count only holds books you really read.

Questions are about the passage you just read. You type the answer freely and tries are unlimited. If you are stuck, a joker reveals the answer: jokers are limited (at least two per book) and earn half the XP.

Frequently asked questions

When does the 2027 reading challenge start?
On January 1, 2027. You can install Vread now to get into the rhythm: your first book of the year counts as soon as its checkpoints are validated.
How many books should I pick?
12 books if you want to get back into reading (about 10 pages a day for 300-page books), 24 if you already read regularly (about 20 pages a day), 52 if you read every day (about 43 pages a day). A goal you keep beats a goal you drop in March.
Does Vread set a yearly book goal?
No, there is no numeric yearly goal in the app. Your goal is your list: Vread validates each book, counts it in your stats and keeps your streak going week after week.
Can I use it alongside the Goodreads Reading Challenge?
Yes. Keep your goal on Goodreads and validate each book in Vread as you read. Vread can also import your Goodreads library from its CSV export.
Is the challenge free?
Yes. Reading, answering checkpoints, streaks, badges and stats are free. Premium is optional: it mainly unlocks unlimited book requests and the weekly Pantheon leagues.
Can I cheat?
Not easily. Each question is about the passage you just read. If you are stuck, a joker reveals the answer, but jokers are limited (at least two per book), earn half the XP and do not count in the Pantheon leagues.
What if my book is not in Vread?
The catalog has 8,500 books with their questions, in French and in English. You can request a missing book in the app: one request is free, Premium makes them unlimited. Meanwhile, pick another book from your list.
Can I do the challenge with a friend?
Yes, with Duo: you read the same book and each of you sees how far the other has validated, without seeing their answers.
